We know you’ve been wondering what’s been happening with those fish Talia was talking about in January

First and foremost, we learned that Tiger Barbs are not a perfect fit for the environment at Buddings. Two weeks after their celebrated arrival, all but one had died, and the last one was tormenting the Long-Fin Ancestrus by sneaking up on him and nibbling his long fins. Benson and I took him back to the store and bought five more of the Neon Tetras, three active and interesting cleaner shrimp, and a beautiful orange-finned Siamese fighting fish named Beta.

A lovely love, born of shared adversity and triumph, has been growing between our original Red-finned Tetra and Cherry Barb. The two survivors swim around together, and seem to have a sweet inter-species friendship. But after introducing them to the new fishy friends, it became… clear… that the tank was in need of a serious cleaning. And so…

An epic adventure of transferring, screening, and syphoning…

Before and after pictures show some of the changes, but you can hardly see how much nicer the rocks and glass are. But Maksim can tell!
