Wednesdays go “Wild About the Arts”
A weekly exploration for the artist within!
Every Wednesday afternoon, from 1 – 4pm, we will be exploring the arts with weekly projects that will delve into all realms of the imagination!
Each week the children will work on a creative project that reflects their unique ideas about a theme. Children will be introduced to the themes with an opening activity, such as a story or song. This will set the stage for their imaginations to run wild and explore their “Artsy Project of the Day”.
The program begins October 1st and will run until December, so make sure to book your child in on Wednesday afternoons so they can take part in some artsy adventures! If you have any questions about the program please contact Jen Labelle at preschoolers@buddings.ca

Arts education develops children’s imaginations and builds real skills
Preschoolers are imaginative creatures by nature. They are often completely absorbed in their own fantastic worlds and art can be a great way for them to express their ideas. Art here is used as a liberal term that includes music, cooking, creative movement, painting , building, and all other avenues of expression.
Using all five senses in their exploration of ideas is a great way for them to learn more about their world and to feed their vivid imaginations. Along with expanding their imaginations, arts education can also help children develop high level skills such as: creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills. As an outlet for their own creative ideas, the arts help to build a child’s self-esteem, confidence, and self-identity.
Exploring ideas using the arts creates a fun learning environment which has been shown to lay a foundation for a more positive attitude towards learning in the future.
Here are some of the projects we will be exploring this season:
3-D constructions – with papier-mâché, clay, natural and recycled material.
Musical explorations – using instruments, our voices, our bodies, and other things in our world to make and move to music.
Inventive cooking – creating in the kitchen! Using all our senses to explore different ways to work with food in artistic ways
Musical Moods – music appreciation for preschoolers – exploring questions like: How do different styles and types of music make us feel? How do they make us move our bodies? What does different music look like when we explore it with paint?
