Saturday Puppet Show!
As you know, Buddings is always trying to involve children and teachers in new and fun activities which, of course, will provide a new learning experience. Now that we are open on Saturdays as well, we are trying to make them super special by being very creative.
Last Saturday I came up with the idea of making a puppet show that would teach the children the importance of feeling empathy towards others.
The idea came up because I’ve been using a mouse puppet during circle time and children absolutely love it! Whenever the mouse was sad they would give him a hug or a kiss or whenever the mouse was happy they would high five with him. It was so much fun to use Mr. Mouse and the kids keep asking for him, so I thought: Let’s make a puppet show!
During the puppet show I used different characters and presented different short stories. Children sat to watch the show and paid so much attention. The characters would ask questions to the children and the children were always willing, and eager, to answer them back!
Yellow and Orange dinosaurs were two of the main characters and they taught everyone that sharing the toys is nice but asking nicely for something we want is very important as well.

Later on, the children thought it would be a good idea if we switched places so they did their own puppet shows and I was the audience.
I feel like this was a very good way to teach them the importance of caring for others in a fun way. I would definitely start to use puppets more often.
