Mondays we are “Falling for Nature”
Mondays are all about nature at Buddings this season. Our new program “Falling for Nature” engages children in explorations of the natural world. Hands-on explorations of nature will happen both indoors and outdoors. Our aim is to build on the children’s inherent curiosity to develop an early attachment to the earth. Through science and art based explorations of plants, animals, and habitats, kids will explore concepts related to the natural environment.
The program starts Monday October 6 and will run until the winter break in December. If you have any questions about the program please contact Jen Labelle at preschoolers@buddings.ca
What is the program all about?
Each week we will introduce some aspect of nature through hands-on experiences with items from the natural world. Some weeks we will head out to our nearest little patch of forest above Charleson Park. Here we will observe first-hand the changing seasons, animals in their natural habitats, look for animal tracks, find nests and feathers, and learn about different native plants.
On days when we are based indoors, we will explore concepts such as where food comes from, what we use natural materials for, what plants and animals live in our local environment. As well we will enrich our learning by doing some science explorations, creating art, singing songs, and playing games about the earth and all it’s creatures.
