Kids we love: Cha Cha Charlie

Usually on Wednesdays and wearing his big grey boots, Charlie rushes into Buddings, picks a cubby, gives his mom a huge hug the size of his heart and sometimes, only a few times, he sheds a few tears.

But as soon as he realizes the space and all the toys around him, his imagination starts to run.

I notice that he looks around, stares at the fish, the big room, the stage, other kids playing nicely…all of the sudden, he smiles and jumps with a lot of excitement, yes! Charlie gets very happy with other people’s happiness, isn’t that sweet?

Without hesitation, Charlie runs all the way to the lentil table to get some early work done, by work, I mean getting all the containers, collecting all the spoons… filling each one. It’s a tough work you know, at Buddings we have lots of containers and spoons!

Charlie passes me a spoon, as a way of saying “hey, come play”, I say “Absolutely!”.

We play for a while, focusing on getting the right amount of lentils for each container, we pass each other different spoons to try different techniques hehe…

…Charlie hands me a container using the word “SOUP”, it makes sense to me, a lentil soup! ha ha ha I smile and say “You’re right!, lentil soup!”. Please keep in mind how big my smile was, super big, I was actually laughing.

Until he decides to give me a spoonful of soup, after all, it was lentil soup right? Oh my god, Charlie! you are so sweet! the sad part is that I had to play my teacher role and say “Charlie, these lentils are not food, unfortunately, they’re not cooked yet”.

I give him this great big bear hug, he smiles and in the meantime, one of our friends decide to take one of the spoons, that recently was under Charlie’s domain. Oh no!

As soon as he notices it, he gets a bit sad but his sweet and noble heart tells him to let it go because he has more spoons. At this point, my heart melts and I  talk to him and to our friend about sharing and they were both ok about what happened so everybody kept playing 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I love all of our Buddies, they’re all special and they inspire me every day. But Charlie, I feel so proud of you Cha Cha Chaaaarlieee!

I love how you share and how you always consider others, you are a great friend.
