Creative with safety measures
Our license officer stopped in this morning to do the first of our inspections for the year (we’ll probably have a couple, since we’re so new), and one of the comments she had for us was with regard to the cupboard in the bathroom. We found the glass door shelving unit at Sellutions and it was so cute that I totally forgot about the “no single-pane glass” rule. I knew it when we were deciding on the windows for the rest room, but in the intervening months, it slipped my mind.
But, no harm done. We can keep it, but the glass had to be “mac-tacked” or some other solution to make sure that it can’t shatter. Fair enough.
Lawrence went straight to DeSerres and found the industrial safety film for windows and I remembered my mum’s autumn tradition of putting a red red maple leaf under the glass top of her antique writing desk. For years, the leaves have held the place of honour, on the front corner of the desk, for all to see. Now, partly as a nod to that fond memory, and partly because I couldn’t get the crazy static-cling film to go on without bubbles forming anyway, we decided to add some natural colour to the room.
In less than 10 minutes, we found enough gorgeous red, yellow, brown leaves to scatter over the doors, with the bonus feature of also partially hiding the baby-sized toilet seat, diaper changing pad, and non-latex gloves from view. The end effect is all I hoped for. What do you think?
