Bikes for All!

A Fieldtrip to our Favorite Neighbourhood Bike Shop

On Wednesday, the Part of the Neighbourhood program was invited to come check out Bikes for All, a bike shop at 112 East 7th Avenue.

The kids had a great time at Bikes for All where bike shop owner Lukas and his kind staff showed the kids some neat helmets, helped them build a brand new push bike, and let them ride the bike around the store! Then to top it all off, Lukas ordered the kids a pizza!

The kids left really excited about biking and told me all about their own bikes at home. As a take home gift, Lukas gave them each a white bike light which means they’ll now be extra safe riding around your neighbourhood.

What’s Coming Up…

Connecting with local businesses and people that live and work in our community is what the Part of the Neighbourhood program is all about. Soon we will be making a big map of all the neat things around Buddings as we trek around the neighbourhood. Each week the kids will be either be exploring a neat place in the community out on a fieldtrip or they will get a change to learn about some people in the community from our homebase at Buddings.
Here is the schedule of events for the next few weeks:
Jan. 28 – Fieldtrip: Hunting for Gold Coins at the TD Bank
Feb. 4 –  Giant Mapping Adventure
Feb. 11 – Community Helpers -Police/Fire/Ambulance
Feb. 18 – Police Officer visit to Buddings
Feb. 25 – Fieldtrip: Neighbourhood Scavenger Hunt
Mar. 4 – Fieldtrip: Fire Station Tour

We would love your child to keep coming to the Part of the Neighbourhood program. If you have other great ideas for places we can go or people we can visit for the last 3 weeks in March, or if you’d like us to come see something neat in your neighbourhood, please send an email to Jen at preschoolers@buddings.ca and we’ll try to make it happen!
