A kid in a toy store…?

Yesterday, Lawrence and I went to Toys R Us on Broadway (conveniently located 4 short blocks West of our centre) and fulfilled the lifelong urge of all children; to walk in there and buy the whole store! 🙂

Just kidding! Don’t worry, moms and dads, we were careful to make a list, and we kept our budget, and principles, in mind.

I had assumed that ordering from an online distributor would be the cheapest way to get supplies, and for some things it is, but after I pay freight, taxes, and customs… Not so much.

Turns out some things are much cheaper to pick up from our friendly neighbourhood international toy store mega-chain than having it shipped out it from New Jersey. Go figure.

Plus, the managers there were wonderful, and it was fun to watch the kids walk past our 2 heaping carts, mouths open. 🙂 The store packed everything up in boxes and for $25, they’ll bring it right to us.

Of course, DeSerres waived the delivery fee for a several hundred dollar order, but who’s counting?

Incidentally, if you are an artsy family, DeSerres on Main (AKA Loomis Art Store) is doing a moving clearance sale, and they’ve started a new points program that might be worth your while.

Some of the furniture is done. We’ve got most of the framing done, and most of the kitchen has arrived… Any renovation project hits this point, where it looks worse everyday, but that’s going to end soon. In 3 weeks, Buddings will emerge from behind the brown papered windows! I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished!
