A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

Where have we been this season you may ask? Our Part of the Neighbourhood program has been all over the place since January!

Here are some of the highlights of our neighbourhoods explorations.

The Fire Station

Our latest fieldtrip to the fire hall was quite exciting as we were there when the fire fighters got called out to a real emergency! Luckily we had practiced what to do if we heard the alarm!

Earlier in season we visited the TD Bank where we actually got to enter the bank vault….only to find a box full of gold coins! Then in February, Constable Paul Hogan came to visit Buddings to teach the kids all about safety and show off his police cruiser.

Often times, on our neighbourhood walks, we discovered things we hadn’t even planned for. Construction of any kind is always very exciting, big machines moving, digging, and dumping. This particular day our destination was the fire hall, but we could have easily spent our entire outing watching this scene!

Ramp at Blussen Spinal Cord Centre

Almost any place in the neighbourhood offers something neat to explore. The Blussen Spinal Cord Centre was our retreat from the cold one day, and alas we found this amazing colorful ramp! We also met a man doing his daily workouts in his wheelchair . The kids had lots of questions for him as he pushed himself up the ramp over and over.

Public Art is Fun

Next Wednesday we will head to a neighbourhood that one of our Big Kids knows well. Maksim will be our tourguide as we head out to the community around his house to find out what kinds of things there are to see and experience in his neck of the woods.

Although our Part of the Neighbourhood program is not continuing into th Spring Season, we would still love to visit some more places in neighbourhoods near some of our other buddies. We might be calling you to ask for some advice.  If you feel like your neighbourhood would be a whole lot of fun for our Buddies to visit, please let us know!  Email us at: preschoolers@buddings.ca
